Ecology @ Hair cutting
We all love to visit our barber once in while and most of the time it is out of compulsion or our desire to look more acceptable or presentable!. And it is quite often that it can be for our own physical comfort. It is general practice for us to visit Saloon shop near by the place of living for simple reason it is close by. We also like to visit one specific barber shop every time because he knows our head, hair style than our selves and ALSO knows the local news.
But coming to the ecology aspect of our visit to Barber shop, we all know that we only love our neighborhood Barber Shop than the one which is beyond 1km. If that is the case why do choose to go by Two wheelers, cars and our wonderful ‘Gas Guzzlers’. Is it time constraint?, I don’t think so. We invariably go for cutting on weekends or holidays. But is surprising to see quite often two wheelers parked in front of these ‘Beauty Saloons’ and we fail to realize how we are destroying the “Beauty of our own Nature”. Since these shops are always nearby money spent to reach that destination will be higher than as average fuel consumption for that specific distance will be much higher than the normal one. This means we tend to spend more money on our fuel and also pollute more. Imagine some one using ‘Road Space Consumers’ and ‘Fuel Drunkards’ like Innovas and Scorpios just for this wonderful half kilo meter drive. And these shops are always in by lanes, which means we need to twist and turn to reach these locations AND this means more fuel consumptions.
Instead how lovely and wonderful to take a pleasant walk to our neighborhood “Beauty Saloons” and enjoy those little bit of opportunity to do that bit of walking exercise which will help to keep our body hale and healthy. I am very sure and confident you will notice more shops, trees, birds, kids, dogs, cows and sign boards more leisurely, peacefully and most important safely while you reach destination. Don’t you think it is great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of your neighborhood while you save money, help ecology and keep your self fit. For those (those responsible mums and macho dads) who take their younger ones to these hair cutting monthly rituals, this is the great opportunity to spend wonderful time (from 3 or 5 minutes drive to 15 minutes pleasant walk). You can get to hear how your kid thinks and what interesting question asks (don’t be surprised if your kid is asking when does the dog takes its puppy to hair cutting saloon or how come all the trees in the road are in one line).
Just imagine for a population of 80, 00000 people of Bangalore, considering average male population of 40, 00, 000 ( Assuming that some of our men folks are bald due to growing stress related problems or some people who never believes in hair cutting) Even if 70% of them go for cutting on monthly basis, which means 70% of 4000000 is equivalent 2800000 people visit the barber shop in a month. If half 0.25 liter of petrol is taken into account for each trip. There is a whopping amount 7,00000 liters of fuel consumed in month! . No doubt most of them can afford this 0.25 liter of petrol, but can we not make a humble attempt to reduce the air pollution, noise pollution but also save little bit of money, traffic stress and happily enjoy the lovely neighborhood of our beloved namma Benguluru!
